Who Is Ritesh Bastola?

My name is Ritesh Bastola. I'm a Senior Computer Information Systems student at Buffalo State University in Buffalo, New York, and a Co-Founder of HireNP — Nepal's first AI-powered hiring platform. This is my story.

Where I Come From

I grew up in Nepal and moved to Buffalo, New York to pursue my degree in Computer Information Systems at Buffalo State University. The transition from Nepal to the US wasn't just geographical — it shaped how I think about technology, opportunity, and what software can solve for underserved markets.

Academic Achievement — 4× Dean's List

At Buffalo State University, I've been named to the Dean's List four times. It's a recognition that reflects not just grades, but a genuine commitment to understanding the field deeply — from computer architecture and data structures to machine learning and full-stack engineering.

Building HireNP — Nepal's First AI Hiring Platform

In April 2026, I co-founded HireNP — an end-to-end AI-powered hiring platform built for the Nepali job market. Hiring in Nepal is still largely manual: resumes pile up, screening takes weeks, and qualified candidates get missed. HireNP automates the entire pipeline.

Beyond HireNP, I've held five professional roles simultaneously while finishing my degree:

• Undergraduate Summer Research Fellow at SUNY Buffalo State — developed Bengal RAWR, a web app that converts student syllabi into visual heatmaps and interactive calendars
• Web Developer & Site Handler, Computer Information Systems Department — designing and maintaining the official CIS Department website (cis.buffalostate.edu)
• Website Handler, CS4HS Program — managing the digital presence for a Google-funded Computer Science for High School teacher training program
• Website Handler & Assistant, Women in Technology (WIT) — developing and maintaining the website for Buffalo State's WIT initiative
